I made the short version of this coat in a leopard print fleece. I lined the jacket with a matching striped lining for that jungle feel. I love the way the sleeve is all in one piece with the front and how the darts shape the stand-up collar. It seems like this would be a difficult make but the pattern goes together easily and is just fun to make.

I wanted the look of the rolled cuffs but discovered that the fleece was a little heavy and I needed to tack the cuffs in place. I also added a fur hook at the neckline since I wanted to close the jacket. I found a really cool matching raffia brooch which I pinned over the hook to add a bit of interest.

I used purchased shoulder pads as I did not own the vintage shoulder pad pattern at the time I made my version. I am really happy to be able to offer the coat pattern along with a vintage shoulder pad pattern.

I originally made the jacket to wear to work since it was always cold in my office. It’s really warm and comfy and works just as well with jeans and a T-shirt on those chilly days. I highly recommend making the coat.
